About Deborah Keogh

Deborah Keogh is a figurative and genre artist who works with oils and encaustic on canvas that includes large-scale figurative work, portraiture and surprising organic landscapes. Many of her works have a mystical or dream-like quality that takes the viewer on a private journey of the subconscious. The rich colours and full rounded shapes are sensual and delicious. She is also a printmaker and she creates large scale drawings on paper.

After completing fine art studies at Newcastle Art School, Deborah continued study at Brisbane TAFE. In 2004 she commenced a full time art practice in Queensland and in 2005 she was invited to complete a twelve month residency at the School of Excellence in Visual Arts, Redcliffe High School. The residency culminated in a major exhibition of her work at Redcliffe Regional Art Gallery.

Deborah is currently living and working in Sydney. Her studio is situated at Kirrawee in southern Sydney overlooking the Royal National Park. The large rock forms and bushland of the park have become a source of inspiration.

Exhibiting as a solo artist and in group exhibitions, Deborah’s work is represented in private collections throughout Australia and New Zealand.
